Don't be Afraid of Change
One of the biggest mistakes that a new poker player can make is being afraid of change. If you get so caught up in your ways that you do not want to try new things you are going to get yourself into a rut. Although you do not want to change just for the sake of doing it, there are times when you should consider this. The majority of the best poker players in the world are always open to change. This allows them to keep up with what is going on in the industry, as well as what the competition is doing. In other words, being afraid of change is a bad habit for any poker player to get into.

You may be thinking that there is not much that could be changed in your poker game, right? Again, this is a thought that you want to get out of your head. When it comes down to it there are plenty aspects of your game that could be tweaked to give you a better chance of winning. For instance, your overall strategy may be working well for you, but what if you would change one or two things? Sure, this is a risk that you will have to take, but you may find out that your new strategy works even better. And remember, any time you change something it does not have to be permanent. If you make a change to your poker strategy and find out that it does not work you can easily go back to what you were doing in the past. There is no rule saying that you cannot switch things around to suit your needs. Remember, it is your strategy so make it unique.
Another problem as far as change is concerned is being stubborn and thinking that you know everything. Even as a beginner you may have a lot of knowledge as far as the game is concerned. But with that being said you will come across details that will make you want to try out new things. You can either try out the new aspects that you come across, or you can remain stuck in your ways and see where that gets you. Your best bet is to keep an open mind when you are trying to develop your poker game. This will give you a much better chance of winning, and in turn a better shot at coming out on top every hand that you play.
Finally, do not think of change as a bad thing; this is one of the biggest mistakes that you could make. Change is something that you should not see as a downer, but instead something that could make you so much better as a player. The bottom line is that a slight change may be all that you need in order to take your game to the next level. If you embrace this change as opposed to running from it you may be surprised at where you end up when everything is said and done.
So is change a good thing or a bad thing for a poker player? Generally speaking, it is good. The only reason that you should not be afraid of change is because you can always undo things if you begin to run into any problems. Let change help you out, and your profits and winning potential will soar!
